Bow Wow Rescue is currently NOT taking in any more dogs due to the high numbers of dogs needing out of the pound and owner surrenders. We are hopeful that some of the wonderful foster dogs that need loving homes move on. Once we move a few foster dogs we will reopen our intake.
Taking on a rescue dog is not the easy option. You need to be prepared to help a confused and troubled dog find his place in your family.
He has been through a massive upheaval and will need time to settle into a new way of life. He may have separation anxiety, fear of sudden noises or strangers. Certain events may trigger traumatic memories, the smallest things that may not make sense to you. Your new dog needs guidance, patience, training and above all unconditional love. If you can offer that to him he will repay you tenfold.
But please keep it in mind it will take more than a couple of days for your new dog to settle into his new home, especially if you already have a dog, it will take time for your new dog to find his place in the family.
We are not behaviourists, we are just a small band of devoted rescuers doing our little bit to help. We do not claim to have all the answers. But we care deeply about every dog that comes into our care, so please be patient with them and us.
If you do adopt a dog from Bow Wow Rescue Kennels and it doesn't work out after giving the dog a fair chance to settle, then of course we will always take the dog back and try to find a new home for him.
All donations are non refundable.
The money we receive for an adoption goes to rescue the next dog. We rely entirely on donations and our veterinary bills are huge.
Please think long and hard before taking on one of our dogs. Our aim is to rehome once, to the right family.
